About the Department:

The department of Hindi was started with the establishment of the Swami Vivekananda college in 1989. At first classes were held in S. P. Roy High School, Sonakhira. Since its inception the department had been offering higher secondary course. In the year 1991, the Hindi department was upgraded into degree course by Smt. Sanjogita Pashi. Major or honours course was not introduced till 2023 but as per the policy of NEP 2020, the department has had success in this direction. In spite of this several students from this college in the department of Hindi have passed out with flying colours and they have held a good position in respect of different fields. Even few numbers of students have facilitated M.A., PhD and like so. The department of Hindi is dedicated to excellence in respect of teaching as well as service also. The department of Hindi has been offering foundation and broad understanding and discipline and to accord permission with greatest interest in all aspects that national and international level.

Vision:

विभाग ने आगे का जो लक्ष्य तय किया है उसके कुछ प्रमुख विन्दु निम्नलिखित हैं -
1. छात्र छात्राएं इस भाषा में इतने पारंगत हो जाएँ कि देश के किसी भी प्रान्त में उन्हें संप्रेषण क़ी कठिनाई का सामना करना न पड़े I
2. इस विभाग के छात्र हिन्दी साहित्य के साथ साथ अन्य भाषा के साहित्य पर भी अपनी पकड़ बना सकें इस विषय को ध्यान में रखते हुए उनमें साहित्य पठन क़ी रूचि जागृत करना
3. इस भाषा के मुर्धन्य कविवों, जैसे सूरदास, तुलसीदास, कबीरदास, मीराबाई, जयशंकर प्रसाद, पंत, महादेवी, निराला, अज्ञेय आदि, क़ी सरस रचनावों के जरिये छात्रों के अंदर सरसता, कोमलता, मानवीयता, आध्यात्मिकता का विकास हो, वे संवेदनशील बने इसके लिए विभाग उन्हें समय समय पर ऐसे क्षेत्रों में भेजनें क़ी चेष्टा करेगा जहाँ उनके धैर्य, सहनशीलता को नयी दृष्टि मिले I

The students are imparted teaching in Hindi language in such a way that they should be well trained about the Hindi Literature and if any problem arises in any corner of the country about the said language, they solve the problem. The students are also taught to know that their objective should be to know that other language and to inspire the other students to know about other languages in such way that they can enrich the language. To enrich and develop the said language the different poets, writers and scholars like Surdas, Tulsidas, Kabir, Meerabai, Jayshankar Prasad, Pant, Mahadevi, Nirala, Agyeya have contributed much to rich the Hindi language at international level. The students of Hindi Language are imparted teaching in such a way that they can be inspired by the writings of great poets and scholars and at the same time they can develop human values, ethics to know efforts etc. in them because this type of quality education can make them actual human beings in the society.

Mission:

हिन्दी विभाग का लक्ष्य है कि छात्रों को हिन्दी भाषा, उसके विभिन्न साहित्यिक विधावों और इतिहास के संबंध में जानकारी उपलब्ध कराना, ये एक समृद्ध भाषा है, जन जन तक इसे पहुँचाना एवं इसे जानने समझने के प्रति छात्रों में जागरूकता पैदा करना इस विभाग का उद्देश्य है I यद्यपि अभी तक इस विभाग में प्रवीण (hons.) पाठ्यक्रम चालु नहीं हुआ है परन्तु निकट भविष्य में इस दिशा में अवश्य सफलता मिलेगी, लेकिन इसके बावजूद कई छात्र -छात्रावों ने इस विषय में सर्वोच्च शैक्षिक डिग्री प्राप्त कर ली है I

The students are taught about the diversity and history of Hindi language with the object of making every citizen aware of the enriched international language. It is to be noted here that though the major or honours course is not started in the department of Hindi but it is hoped that the course would be started in near future and the students will be able to know more and more about the language which can help them to enrich the language in future endeavors.

Future Plan:

  • Enhancement of Teaching Resources: Develop and implement new teaching materials, including digital content and e-learning modules, to better engage students and improve their understanding of Hindi literature and language.
  • Cultural Exchange Programs: Establish partnerships with other colleges or universities to create student and faculty exchange programs, focusing on the cultural and linguistic diversity of Hindi-speaking regions..
  • Community Engagement Initiatives: Organize Hindi language workshops, literacy campaigns, and cultural events in the surrounding rural communities to promote the language and its literary heritage.
  • Research and Publication: Encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects related to Hindi literature, language, and culture. Support the publication of research findings in academic journals or as books.
  • Skill Development Programs: Introduce vocational courses in translation, content writing, and Hindi journalism, helping students gain practical skills that can enhance their employability in various sectors

Admission Criteria:

The minimum criteria for admission should be 10+2 or Higher Secondary level passed students from any Govt. or recognized institution. The candidates will be selected on merit basis.

Faculties available in the Department:

Minimum required faculties are available in the Department to continue the course.

Departmental Activities:

Departmental Meeting will be held every month to discuss the following academic and non-academic activities

  • Preparation of the time table for every semester and subject allotment in the beginning of every Semester
  • Preparation of academic calendar to conduct Internal assessment Test, Evaluation and upload the marks
  • Planning to organized the Special class for slow learner and tutorial class,
  • Hindi department arranges different kinds on competition like Quiz, Debate, lectures on budget seminar on the current economic situation on global basis.
  • Conduct remedial class for the students
  • The students of the department organised by IQAC, NCC and NSS units of the college so that students can develop their social responsibilities.

Internal Assessment:

Internal assessment conducted at the department level as per the University guide line. As per guidelines the scheme of the examination is divided as External and Internal Assessment. As a part of internal Assessment 30 Marks (20 marks internal and attendance 10 marks) and 70 marks are external examination are allotted out of 100 Marks. The systematic process is being laid down by the department to assess the marks. The internal marks to be uploaded in the University Examination Portal and student can cheek and verify the internals personally.

Time Table for the Year:

The department has to prepare the time table for every semester in the coordination with college time table committee. The committee has prescribed the time table as per the departmental guidelines. The time table prepared under various levels such as:

  • Faculty wise Time table (Department Level By the department)
